Dewey Canyon II was the February 1971 invasion of Laos. Dewey Canyon III was the April 1971 VVAW action in DC. I remember 1971. I remember Laos, and VVAW. I wonder how many of the recruit parents do, and what their memories are?
February 1991 and the Highway of Death. What do recruits picture when they read about Marines „capturing“ a mortar in Iraq? I am surrounded by proud obese Americans, many wearing yellow t-shirts which somehow show support for the recruits. Remembrance, reflection, analysis seem to have no place here.
